Kraftwerk Living Technologies is an important project partner of Europa-Park‘s latest major attraction – Voletarium – the largest Flying Theater in Europe.

Rust/Wels, 4 April 2017.

The dream of flying within our reach! The largest Flying Theater attraction on the European continent is currently being built in Germany’s largest theme park – Europa-Park in Rust. Kraftwerk Living Technologies, international specialist in the field of audio-visual system integration headquartered in Wels, Austria, was contracted in the summer of 2016 for the technical design, planning, supply as well as the installation of the audio-visual equipment. Under the recently revealed name of Voletarium, this ground-breaking attraction is well underway and will open its doors to the public in June.

Europa-Park’s new major attraction will allow visitors to be part of the technical achievements of two aviation pioneers. In chairlift-style gondolas, which are the centerpiece of Brogent’s ride system, passengers will glide through the air in one of the two separate but identical theaters. Each theater has a screen measuring 21 meters in diameter and a total screen size of 425 square meters, providing a crucial component in creating the flight experience. Projection onto the concave screen is by multiple 3D stereoscopic projectors with 4K resolution each, engineered by Kraftwerk LT for the ultimate viewing experience for every visitor. Sensational visuals from Europe’s most beautiful and fascinating metropolises and landscapes – which are currently being filmed and created by MackMedia – as well as effects such as scent, wind and water, will intensity the flying experience in the 16-meter-high domes. Other technical highlights are the 3D audio system with many discrete channels, the use of an uncompressed video server cluster with 60 fps uncompressed video playback as well as the integrated, camera-based alignment system – all together, they provide a very real and breathtaking feeling and a truly unforgettable experience. “With Kraftwerk LT, we have a top partner on board, who has already delivered excellent work for our attraction ‘Arthur – Im Königreich der Minimoys’ in the AV field back in 2014. We are happy to once again work with our colleagues from Austria as part of this large-scale project,” says Michael Mack, Managing Partner of the Europa-Park.

“After having worked on several flying theater attractions in the Asian markets in the past months, we are incredibly proud to be working on this gigantic major attraction within close proximity of us and to be part of the team that will give theme park visitors in Europe access to this incredible experience,” says Manfred Meier, Managing Director and CEO at Kraftwerk Living Technologies. He adds, “With the Europa-Park, we have an incredibly creative and quality-conscious client at our side and can be absolutely certain that the attraction itself as well as the story around it will excite and impress!”
