2010 | Shanghai (CN)Shanghai Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010

In addition to installing the technical infrastructure in the Aviation Pavilion and Austrian Pavilion at the World Expo 2010, Kraftwerk Living Technologies was also responsible for the installation of innovative server architecture, show control, and auto-alignment systems at the Shanghai Pavilion.

The pavilion’s highlight was a Hexapod platform with dome projection showing many different pictures and videos of the pavilion’s slogan “New Horizons Forever”. Due to the dome’s complex shape, Kraftwerk LT had to implement a fully automated system. Furthermore, Kraftwerk LT installed a state-of-the-art auto-alignment system, which measures the dome’s geometry accurate to a millimeter and adjusts the film sequences perfectly to the shape. Therefore 10 detailed pictures are rendered automatically from a polar coordinate film. The content is automatically saved on the media server and is transferred with time-code and frame-exact synchronization to the individual projectors. As a result, the visitor faces a seamless projection, which appears to be one single picture. The additionally integrated Show Control controls special effects and the platform, so that the user on-site can easily and seamlessly operate the attraction.
